Fine Wine Merchant is a specialist fine wine retail business that provides collectors and consumers access to great wines from Australia and the world’s best wine regions.


We have a physical store, located at Shop 9, 87 Mount Eliza, Mount Eliza, less than an hour’s drive south of Melbourne, entrance to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.  Around 1,100 wines are in stock in the store, with more in temperature-controlled storage.


This website is also a resource tool, empowering consumers to discover the world’s great producers through highly-detailed, personal observations and comment about some of the world’s best wine regions, communes, producers and wines.  Comprehensive regional and producer information, along with extensive tasting histories of their wines, allow our clients to make informed purchases and demonstrates our integrity and experience with these wines.


We only offer wines that we believe are of high-quality from makers striving to produce unique wines reflective of their site, and that also represent good value.  Such considerations tend to identify boutique producers from Australia and New Zealand, as well as world-renowned producers from classic old world regions.  Each producer and every wine are selected by us as being worthy of your consideration.  We pride ourselves on having intimate knowledge of every producer we offer, garnered from extensive tastings and in most cases, having personally visited each winery.  Whilst the producers and wines we offer are not an exhaustive list of the world’s best, they certainly comprise an extensive selection of them.

  1. 1.LEGAL ENTITY:  Fine Wine Merchant Mount Eliza Pty Ltd (Fine Wine Merchant) is an Australian registered company, ACN 160 392 129.

  1. 3.INFORMATION AND ADVICE:  The wines detailed and information provided on this website is intended as a guide for potential buyers, and reflects entirely the personal opinion of the author and this business.  No representations are made that any wine will taste identically to the descriptions written, as wine is an individual, living creation, observations subjective, and specific bottles may vary depending on condition, location and transport history.  Having said this, we pride ourselves on the accuracy and integrity of our comments.


  1. 4.FAULTY WINE:  Any bottles supplied by Fine Wine Merchant that are considered to be faulty or non-representative of their description as sold, must be returned within two working days for analysis and consideration by Fine Wine Merchant.  Bottles deemed to be faulty, such as suffering from TCA contamination, random oxidation or other vinous faults will gladly be refunded (including costs of return), exchanged for the same or similar wine (if no longer reasonably available) or used as credit against future purchases.  All consumer rights as stipulated under the Trade Practices Act will be maintained.


  1. 5.PAYMENT:  There is no online payment facility at present.  Wine can be paid for by phone or email by providing credit card details, or payment can be made via direct deposit or by bank/personal/business cheque (however delivery of wine is dependant upon clearance of cheque).  Please contact us for further information.  Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards are accepted by Fine Wine Merchant, and no fees or surcharges are payable by the customer.  Please note legal requirement of purchasers being aged 18 years or older.


  1. 6.DELIVERY:  Delivery is free of charge to metropolitan addresses with Australia for all orders over $200.  Delivery to places outside of metropolitan areas is by arrangement.  Insurance is NOT included automatically in delivery, and can be made via arrangement at cost.  Please note legal requirements for the acceptance of liquor deliveries - minors may not receive or accept liquor deliveries.  Unfortunately personal shopping, browsing or collection of wines is not possible at this time from either our office or our storage facility.  Delivery dates stated are estimations only and provided for advice - if there are time-specific delivery requirements please contact us directly to discuss.


  1. 7.QUANTITIES:  Many wines offered by Fine Wine Merchant are limited in terms of quantities available, and once sold-out additional bottles may not be able to be supplied.  Orders received by Fine Wine Merchant are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Given the nature of the business it is very helpful to have an idea of wines a customer may wish to purchase in advance of the wines being offered, as allocations and quantities can be better managed.  Receiving an offer from Fine Wine Merchant for particular wines is not a guarantee of supply, however we only offer wines when we have firm allocations from our suppliers to limit the non-supply or unavailability of particular wines.


  1. 8.PRE-ARRIVAL and EN-PRIMEUR SALES:  The common practice of ‘Pre-Arrival’ or ‘En-Primeur’ offers is one where the customer purchases wines from Fine Wine Merchant before the wine has physically arrived in Australia (or in Fine Wine Merchant’s possession).  Title to the wines passes from Fine Wine Merchant to the customer when the wine is paid in full, although Fine Wine Merchant remains responsible for the delivery of the wine from the supplier to the customer as contracted.


  1. 9.ERRORS.  Whilst every care is taken, occasionally errors in the description or pricing of wines may occur.  If any such error or omission occurs Fine Wine Merchant will endeavour to rectify the situation, but no liability will be accepted.


  1. 10. APPLICABLE LAW.  Applicable law to all sales and communications is Victoria, Australia.


  1. 11. PRIVACY.  All information collected by Fine Wine Merchant, including personal details such as email addresses and credit card information, is only used for the conduct of business between Fine Wine Merchant and its customers, and is not made available to any third party at any stage.


  1. 12.CHANGES TO POLICIES:  Any and all of the above policies, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice at the discretion of Fine Wine Merchant.
